I’m a fan of Omega when it comes to horizontal masticating juicers, so I’m really excited when I stumbled upon Omega NC900HDSS (Stainless Steel) Nutrition System. The ‘stainless steel’ part really caught my attention. Upon further checking though I realized that this particular juicing machine is not really a stainless steel juicer. The body is chrome plated and the entire assembly from the juicing screw up to the funnel is clearly made of plastic.
The only stainless steel items are the complimentary juicing cups. That’s right, what makes this product a stainless steel are the two juicing cups included in the box.
It’s quite deceiving to call this machine a stainless steel masticating juicer. A masticating juicer with complimentary stainless steel juicing cups would be more fitting.
Don’t get me wrong, Omega is still the best when it comes to horizontal masticating juicers but my job here to help consumers stay informed before buying the product.
When you are ready to purchase Omega NC900HDSS, just remember that you’re still purchasing a plastic juice extractor except for the free juice containers.
The difference between Omega NC900HDC and Omega NC900HDSS are design, stainless steel juicing cups, and the price. The newer model costs $120 more based on SRP. Well I can say that you’re paying a hefty price tag for a pair of juicing cups. To be fair thought the machine looks sleeker than the old design.
When it comes to performance everything remains the same. Omega NC900HDSS is also equipped with 80 RPM 2 HP motor capable of juicing all types of produce–soft fruits, hard produce and greens. Like all other Omega’s masticating juicers the free blank cone and nozzles can help you make nut butters, nut milks, baby food, frozen fruit sorbets, extrude pasta and mince herbs.

Features & Product Details
Is it Easy to Use?
Like other masticating juicers I’ve reviewed this machine is fairly easy to use. There are no sharp parts that might accidentally cut your finger when assembling and disassembling the machine. Since the chute of this machine is a bit smaller, you’ll have to chop your produce in small pieces and that is what’s going to take most of your time. It’s also slower but highly efficient in processing leafy greens including wheatgrass.
Is it Easy to Clean?
The smaller parts of masticating juicers makes it easy to clean, not to mention that it’s compatible with your dishwasher. Ideally you should wash your juicer immediately after every use to prevent unnecessary build up. A quick rinse is all you have to do get the parts ready for your dishwasher.
I can say that you’ll get the most nutrient from your produce out of this machine. The slow masticating action mimics the way we chew food thus minimizing oxidation (breakdown of nutrients and minerals). This is the reason why you can store your juice for up to 72 hours with this type of machine.
What Kinds of Produce Can it Juice?
This juice press can process all types of produce–soft and hard produce, leafy greens, citrus fruits, beans and nuts.
Hard produce include celery, pear, cauliflower, watermelon, broccoli, carrots, apple, coconut, fennel, beets, garlic, ginger, sweet potato, turmeric, pepper, yakon, pumpkin, cilantro, cucumber, asparagus, bitter gourd and pineapple.
Leafy greens include collard greens, kale, parsley, brussels sprout, moringa, lettuce, pine tree needles, cabbage, wheatgrass, basil, spring onion, dandelion greens, peppermint, beet greens and spinach.
Citrus fruits include orange, mandarin, lime, tangerine, grapefruit and lemon.
Soft produce such as cranberries, peach, papaya, kiwifruit, pomegranate, grapes, tomato, blackberry, mango, melon, avocado and strawberry can be turned into a puree using the blank screen.
You can also use this machine for making soy and almond milk.
Not only it can help you prepare healthy juices, it also serves additional functions to provide variety in your juicing routine-food processor, homogenizer, pasta maker, coffee grinder.
It can be used as a food processor to chop your meat, fish, fruits, and vegetables into fine pieces for any meal you’re planning. This mincing/grinding ability also allows you to prepare ingredients for marinades, salsas, soups, and sauces. Additionally, it can also process soaked rice and beans producing a puree-like consistency.
If you feel like eating healthy frozen desserts, feel free to freeze your juice into ice cubes then let the machine turn it into a cold healthy treat by adding milk, yogurt and other ingredients to your heart’s content. This homogenizer function can also be used to make nut butters and baby food.
The complimentary nozzles can be used to make pasta of varying shapes and sizes, you can choose between a round or a flat noodle; better yet you can add some flavor to your pasta to make a Korean style u-dong noodles. Nozzles with larger opening can be used to form bread sticks. The bad news is you still have to prepare your dough.
You can even grind your own coffee beans for a fresh cup of java with this machine. Some coffee beans (especially gourmet coffees) have higher oil content, this have to be dried overnight for easier processing.
What I like about NC900HDSS is the included accessory case. Now you can keep all your nozzles and blank cone in one place.
I highly recommend Omega NC900HDSS Nutrition System to those who have the budget. It’s a fancy looking machine that is capable of juicing all types of produce. If you don’t have the budget though, pick a different Omega juicer that won’t cost you $500.
