Omega VRT400HDS Heavy Duty Vertical Masticating Juicer seems pretty much like previous Omega Vert juicers, right? While it is similar, it comes with new functions that make this model more appealing. It is attractive in a silver finish with black trim, weighing 22 pounds, and is powered by a one-fifth horsepower condenser motor. During operation, it only uses approximately 150 watts/120 volts. The plastic components are entirely BPA-free. It is incredibly compact and occupies much less space than horizontal masticating juicers.
The auger and the heavy-duty juicing screen are constructed of Ultem plastic, which is eight times harder than other plastics. This juicer introduces the patented juicer tap that lets you mix your drinks inside of the juicer to create a fusion of delicious vegetable and fruit juices. It saves time and increases the efficiency of the juicer and makes cleanup easier as well. As the juicer runs, the automatic wiping system keeps the screen free of excess pulp with silicone wiping blades that spin around the screen, allowing you to produce a higher yield of juice.

Features & Product Details
Is it Easy to Use?
As long as you line the arrows up and follow the included instructions, the Omega VRT400 HDS is easy to assemble. If the parts are not put together properly, it will not function. For example, if the screw has not been pressed into the strainer properly, then the hopper will not close. Also, it is important to ensure the pulp flap is pushed all the way in to keep pressure on the pulp too allow for maximum juice extraction.
Before using, cut your produce into smaller pieces to make it easier for the juicer to pull it through. Sure, the feed chute is larger, at 2.25 inches by 1.25 inches. However, you want it to juice efficiently and effectively without getting clogged or jammed. The best solution is to cut everything into smaller strips, especially stringy, fibrous items like celery, which has a tendency to get wrapped up around the auger.
This juice extractor is self-feeding; therefore, you do not need to utilize the pusher unless something becomes stuck in the machine. You can use the reverse function to try and back it up or press down gently with the pusher to help it feed into the juicer. Otherwise, simply drop it in and it will easily pull the produce right into the juicer. Another thing, do not put too much in at a time. That will most likely clog it, forcing you to reverse it, or even take it apart to clean it out—thus wasting time. Consistent feeding makes for an easy and proficient juicing process.
Is it Easy to Clean?
While it is easy to clean, this juicing machine requires a learning curve because there are several pieces you need to snap off to clean the nooks. Since the parts are not dishwasher safe, you will need to wash everything by hand. The auto-cleaning system definitely saves you time. Simply close the juice tap, fill with water, and turn on. Let the silicone wipers wipe away most of the pulp before taking it apart. The flap on the bottom needs to be removed every time you wash it in order to clean out the pulp spout. You can scoop anything stuck in it with the opposite end of the cleaning brush. Wash everything in warm, soapy water. Use the nylon cleaning brush to remove any remaining pulp from the mesh screen. Once you have washed and rinsed, leave everything out to air dry.
High-speed juicers oxidize juice more by adding oxygen to the juice as a result of speeds up to 13,000 RPM. Slow juicers, like the Omega Vert 400 HDS extracts juice using through a speed of about 80 RPM. It slowly crushes and squeezes the juices against the juicing strainer to separate the pulp from the nutritious juice. All of this is accomplished without degrading the important enzymes and vitamins that are vital to our health. Additionally, the full flavor of the juice is pulled out of the pulp with this process, resulting in better tasting juice and dry pulp. This juicer does produce a higher pulp level. Depending on your feelings about pulp, if the idea of drinking pulp turns you off, then it would be a great idea to use the sieve (included) that conveniently fits on the juice catch cup. However, it is normally a good idea to wait until you have finished juicing to use the sieve to strain the pulp. When using a slower juicer, you can store your juice in the refrigerator for up to 72 hours (or three days) in a tightly sealed container without experiencing any degradation in taste and nutrients.
What Kinds of Produce Can it Juice?
All types of produce can be processed by this juice press—soft & hard produce, leafy greens, citrus fruits, and nuts and beans.
Hard produce includes garlic, asparagus, beets, pumpkin, turmeric, ginger, sweet potato, cucumber, bitter gourd, apple, cauliflower, yakon, fennel, pear, carrots, watermelon, coconut, pineapple, pepper, cilantro, celery and broccoli.
You can turn soft fruits such as strawberry, grapes, melon, papaya, peach, tomato, mango, kiwifruit, cranberries, pomegranate, blackberry and avocado into a puree using this machine.
Leafy greens include moringa, spring onion, peppermint, pine tree needles, brussels sprout, dandelion greens, collard greens, parsley, kale, spinach, lettuce, basil, wheatgrass, cabbage, beet greens and romaine lettuce.
Though this machine can process leafy greens, a 80 RPM vertical masticating juicer is not ideal for juicing wheat grass and green leafy vegetables on its own. It should be done along with other produce to aid in juice extraction. Don’t get me wrong here, it still outperform centrifugal juicers but it’s just not as efficient as horizontal masticating juicers. Newer vertical masticating juicers running half that speed (43 RPM) can now process leafy greens and wheatgrass at a more efficient rate.
Citrus fruits include grapefruit, lemon, orange, tangerine, mandarin and lime.
It can also help you make soy and almond milk to add variety to your juicing routine.
The Omega VRT400HDS Heavy Duty Vertical Masticating Juicer works really well for the individual who wants fresh juice every single day. It comes with excellent reviews. It also does an impressive job at making nut milks. While you can juice softer fruits, it does not do so well if you juice them alone. If you want to juice softer fruits, then the best method is to alternate with a hard fruit or vegetable to optimize your results. It does crush seeds, with the exception of pits from fruits like peaches or cherries.
The all-new juicer tap is an excellent feature allowing you to mix your juice inside of the machine and also close off the spout to prevent any drips from falling onto the counter from the juicer. Another great thing about having the flap is if you want to switch to a different juice, you can keep juicing without having to take it apart to rinse! Simply close the flap and pour water into the machine. Allow it to self-clean and drain out. It delivers the highest levels of nutrients, enzymes and vitamins. It runs about $400 USD, but is covered by a 15-year warranty, covering the motor and all included parts. The Omega VRT400HDS Juicer is a wonderful upgrade to the Omega VRT350HD.
